For the first three decades of HMA’s existence, we invested very little time in business branding and marketing. We believed then – and we still believe now – that word of mouth is the most powerful marketing tool. Recommendations from existing clients continue to be our primary source of growth, but a website today is the Yellow Pages listing of the 80’s. If you’re wondering what the Yellow Pages is, never you mind. And so here we are, now present on the World Wide Web. To breathe a bit of life into our brand, we chose to work with the image of the Coral Tree flower (Erythrina Lysistemon). We felt it was a symbol of our roots in Zululand. We later discovered that the isiZulu name for the Coral Tree is uMsinsi Wukazimilela, which means “son or daughter of the soil” or “this is where we are from”.
