Louwrens has a strong technical accounting background. He completed his Bachelor of Accounting through Stellenbosch University and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting Sciences.

He worked as an auditor for Grant Thornton in Durban for a number of years before moving to Richards Bay to join HMA in 2014 as a Financial Planner. Louwrens holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning and is a Certified Financial Planner. He is the cornerstone of our Richard’s Bay office and serves clients in the broader Zululand area. His combination of strong accounting, tax and financial planning knowledge makes him invaluable to clients and HMA.

Louwrens is a passionate and accomplished fly fisherman who enjoys being in or near the sea. If there is good surf to be had, Louwrens can be found on the South Pier break at Alkantstrand beach in Richard Bay. He also enjoys running, hiking and travelling.

Louwrens lives with his wife, Shelly, and two Yorkshire Terriers in Richards Bay. Having grown up in Empangeni, he spent a few years studying and working further afield before deciding to return to Zululand (we think it had something to do with the warm sea).
